About this watch
The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon for 2020 is currently on sale. The Apollo 8 44.25mm 311.92.44.30.01.001 commemorates the astronauts of Apollo 8, who were the first to see the moon's dark side and represent incredible human achievement.
This finely crafted timepiece is a striking illustration of Omega's heritage and inventiveness. The model is distinctive due to the black ceramic case's reference to the mission's namesake moon. The case's 44.25mm diameter gives it a substantial yet comfortable presence on the wrist.
The stunning dial of the timepiece features a skeletonized view of the manually wound chronograph Calibre 1861 from both the front and the back. It is lovely to watch the movement, which is exquisitely laser-ablated to represent the surface of the moon.
The dial and hands have yellow accents that reflect the "sunshine" that the Apollo 8 astronauts saw while orbiting the moon, in contrast to the black ceramic. The Speedmaster series' signature chronograph feature is made simple to use by pushers on the side of the case.
This watch is finished with a black leather strap with a yellow rubber band running through the middle. This strap's decorative element enhances the watch's overall appearance. It is practical for daily use due to its water resistance of up to 50 metres.
