Sell Rolex in Australia

Sell Your Rolex in Australia

Two Rolex watches can have the same name on the dial and still sell for very different amounts. If you want to sell your Rolex in Australia, look at what similar watches have sold for, not just the prices sellers are asking. The model, condition and original parts can all affect what your watch is worth. At WatchCraze, you can get a free valuation and compare an outright offer with a consignment estimate before deciding how to sell.

Free valuation within 24 hours. Sell outright for same-day payment after inspection and acceptance, or consign for a potential 10-15% higher return.

Sell Outright or Consign Your Rolex?

You don't have to choose a selling method before asking for a valuation. WatchCraze can provide an outright offer and a consignment estimate, so you can compare the figures.

Sell outright Consign
Payout Fixed offer Sale proceeds less commission
Commission None Usually 10–15%, agreed upfront
Payment timing Same day after inspection and acceptance After the sale is completed
Ownership Transfers after sale Remains yours until sold
Main trade-off Quicker payment Potentially higher return, with no fixed sale date

Outright gives you a fixed offer with same-day payment after inspection and no commission — a good fit if you're buying another watch or simply want the sale completed. Consignment keeps the watch yours until it sells and may return around 10-15% more, less the agreed commission, though it can take time to find the right buyer. Ask about a trade-in if you're buying another watch, or read our watch consignment vs outright sale guide.

How to Sell My Rolex

1Send the details

Message WatchCraze on WhatsApp or complete the valuation form. Include the reference, condition and box-and-papers status. Photos of the dial, case back, bracelet and any paperwork will help identify the watch.

2Compare the offers

The team reviews the details and provides an indicative valuation. Ask for both an outright offer and a consignment estimate to see the difference between a direct payout and the potential proceeds after commission. WhatsApp enquiries may receive an indicative offer within the hour; form enquiries are answered within one business day.

3Arrange inspection

If you decide to proceed, the team explains the next steps. Your watch is inspected and authenticated by our team in Sydney or Melbourne, with the physical watch checked against the details provided.

4Complete the sale or choose consignment

For an outright sale, payment can be made the same day after inspection and acceptance. If you choose consignment, the watch is prepared for listing and payment follows after the buyer's purchase is completed.

How Much Is My Rolex Worth?

Four details help us set a realistic estimate — and resale value is best judged against completed sales of comparable references, not asking prices or retail figures. Common references have more recent sales to compare against, while unusual dials, discontinued models or aftermarket parts can be harder to price. You don't need every document to start; the more you can tell us, the easier it is to find the right comparisons.

Reference and production year

Find the reference before relying on a broad price estimate. A Submariner 124060 has no date display, while the 126610LN has a date — they can look similar at a glance but are different references. Production year helps narrow the comparison, particularly for discontinued models or notable dial and bezel variations. If you can't locate the reference, send photographs and any paperwork rather than guessing.

Condition and originality

Check the case, bezel, crystal, dial, bracelet and clasp. Everyday marks are expected on a pre-owned watch; serious damage, heavy polishing or replaced components can affect value. Originality matters especially on vintage Rolex models, where collectors pay close attention to the dial, hands and other parts. Mention modifications, repairs and known mechanical issues when requesting a valuation.

Documentation and Service History

Box, papers and extras

The original box and warranty card, purchase receipt, spare bracelet links, tags and booklets all help document what's included — keep them together before arranging the sale. Missing items don't automatically rule out a valuation; tell us what's available. The watch can still be assessed, although the documentation and accessories may affect the offer.

Service history

Service records show what work has been done and when. If your Rolex has been serviced by Rolex or an independent watchmaker, include the paperwork and mention any known problems. Don't rush into paying for a service simply because you're selling — the cost may not be recovered in the offer. Have the watch assessed first, particularly if it is running well with no known issues.

Where to Sell a Luxury Watch in Australia

Private sale or marketplace

Selling luxury watches privately or through a marketplace could give you access to a large audience and control over the asking price, but dealing with enquiries, payments and shipping also falls on you. It can take longer to find the right buyer.

Auction house

An auction house might be a good idea for rare models, but the final price is uncertain and the process can involve fees and a waiting period.

Jewellers and pawnbrokers

Selling via jewellers and pawnbrokers can be a quicker option, but their offers vary a lot. It may not give you the same selling reach as a specialist dealer.

A specialist dealer like WatchCraze handles everything from the valuation and watch authentication to photography, listing and buyer enquiries. Our presence on Chrono24 can also give listed watches access to a wider pool of buyers. It gives you a balance between speed, price and lower selling risk.

Rolex Models We Buy and Consign

Rolex makes watches for different purposes — the Submariner is a dive watch, the Daytona a chronograph, the GMT-Master II a dual-time-zone tool watch, and the Datejust a classic daily wearer — so buyers don't treat them as interchangeable. Resale value can also vary sharply within a single collection, which is why the exact reference and configuration matter so much. See the Rolexes currently in our collection.

Rolex Submariner

Submariner

Date or no date? Black or green bezel? Steel or two-tone? Those details distinguish one Submariner from another. References such as the 124060, 126610LN and 126610LV aren't direct substitutes for valuation. The condition of the bezel, bracelet and case matters too — for a green-bezel "Hulk" or "Starbucks", include the full reference so it's compared with the right version. Browse Rolex Submariner watches.

Rolex Datejust

Datejust

Available in sizes including 36mm and 41mm, with Oyster or Jubilee bracelets and a wide range of dials, metals and bezels. A steel model with a smooth bezel needs a different comparison from a two-tone fluted-bezel version. Dial colour and condition matter — Wimbledon, blue and other distinctive dials should be identified properly rather than grouped under the Datejust name. Browse Rolex Datejust watches.

Rolex Daytona

Daytona

The Cosmograph Daytona is Rolex's racing chronograph, first released in 1963, and its chronograph functions set it apart from the brand's three-hand models. For valuation, the reference, metal, dial, bezel and bracelet or strap all matter — a steel Daytona and an 18ct white-gold model are very different watches even when the dials look similar. Browse Rolex Daytona watches.

Rolex GMT-Master II

GMT-Master II

Displays a second time zone via its 24-hour hand and rotating bezel, with bezel colours and materials varying by reference. "Pepsi", "Batman" and "Batgirl" are familiar nicknames but don't replace the reference number. Bezel colour, case material, bracelet and production generation all affect the comparison, so send the reference if you know it — especially for older models. Browse Rolex GMT-Master II watches.

Rolex Day-Date

Day-Date

Made in precious metals and displaying the day in full, the Day-Date comes in yellow gold, Everose gold and platinum, in sizes including 36mm and 40mm. Dial colours from champagne and olive green to ice blue appeal to buyers, and diamond-set bezels or hour markers make a difference. Specify the metal, dial colour and bracelet material for a proper valuation. Browse Rolex Day-Date watches.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual

Oyster Perpetual

A time-only display in sizes including 28mm, 34mm, 36mm and 41mm, with dial colours such as turquoise, pink, blue and green. Features can vary from one reference to the next, so send the reference and production generation — size, dial and reference help narrow the comparison. Browse Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches.

Rolex FAQs

How much can I sell my Rolex for?

The reference, year, material, condition, originality, accessories and service history all affect the valuation. Recent completed sales of comparable watches offer a better benchmark than retail or asking prices alone. Send photos and details for an assessment of your particular watch.

Where is the best place to sell a Rolex in Australia?

That depends on whether you want a direct offer or are willing to wait for a buyer through consignment. A specialist second-hand dealer can assess the watch and manage the transaction. We accept enquiries from across Australia, with showrooms in Sydney and Melbourne.

Can I sell a Rolex without the box and papers?

Yes. Missing box or papers don't automatically prevent a valuation. Send the documentation you do have, such as a receipt or service record, and explain what's missing.

Does my Rolex need a service before I sell it?

Not necessarily. A service can be costly, and you may not recover the expense in the sale price. Share the service history and any known mechanical problems before deciding whether further work is worthwhile.

Should I consign or sell outright?

An outright sale gives you a fixed offer and payment can be made the same day after inspection and acceptance. Consignment may return more, but you'll wait for a buyer and pay the agreed commission. Compare the figures and timing before deciding.

How long does Rolex consignment take?

There's no guaranteed timeframe. It depends on the reference, condition, asking price and buyer interest. Payment follows the completed sale, not the initial listing. Ask the team for an expected timeframe for your watch.
