The IWC Big Pilot's Watch IW501001 is the modern continuation of the oversized observation watches IWC built for pilots in the 1940s, carrying the conical crown, triangle-and-dots dial marking and 46mm case that define the model. Reference IW501001 runs the in-house calibre 52110 with a seven-day power reserve displayed on the dial, and it was the reference that introduced the Big Pilot's signature to IWC's own movement family. It remains the benchmark against which oversized pilot's watches are measured.
